This is how we do! · Aug 15, 05:28 AM by Don
Quite possibly the best mp3 blog run by two guys who have been on TV’s Judge Judy, Timedoor promises to bring you mp3’s, general pop culture discussions, and the best mix of foreign policy analysis and rock & roll know-how since Skunk Baxter.
To celebrate almost six months o’ bloggin’ in the free world and over 20,000 hits in the last two months alone (!), we’re reposting all mp3’s featured during our first three months. We’re doing this for two reasons: one, it is a killer bevy o’ tunes, and, two, we need to make some space for the next few months of music. Get these flaptracks while dey hot, cuz they’ll be gone soon.
Before we get to the music, let’s reintroduce who is responsible for all this:
Chaka

Socialist Green Bay Packers stockholder/season ticket holder Chaka’s greatest rock & roll moment was stepping onto a bus in Athens, Georgia in 1990 and hearing his own band on the radio. It’s all been downhill from there, but that won’t stop him from offering up baseless, unsolicited opinions about bands he sees, tunes he likes, and the general state of music in a world in which he can carry every tune he ever liked in his pocket every place he goes. Chaka is also solely responsible for any Packer-related Timedoor content, which does not necessarily reflect the opinions of Timedoor, its management, or its stockholders. And, like you, Chaka don’t know anybody who done voted for Bush either.

Enik

Enik’s greatest rock ‘n’ roll moment, participant category, was singing background vocals on a handful of songs on a basement tape recording of seminal Neenah hardcore outfit Bad Culture. His least rock ‘n’ roll moment, participant category, occurred several months earlier when he failed to deliver as lead vocalist for True Leather Sideburns. Enik’s greatest rock ‘n’ roll moment, spectator category, was interviewing, in person, Japanese garage band Shonen Knife. His least rock ‘n’ roll moment, spectator category, was traveling from Neenah to Milwaukee to see the Feelies open up for Lou Reed at the Riverside Theater in 1989, only to leave before Lou Reed took the stage. Though he still rationalizes the decision (“Hey, I was only a Feelies fan then!”), he has now come to appreciate Lou Reed. Here’s proof:

Concert review: X at the Eagles Club Chaka makes an American squirm

While researching the Skinpops, I came across a reference to the band’s singer/songwriter Barry Sell and his latest release, Ravens in the Snow. He’s based in Austin, TX, now. Has anyone heard his stuff?
