Succumb to Timedoor · Jun 27, 07:40 AM by Don

Timedoor wants to hear from you. Enik was travelling through his timedoor recently (er, cleaning out a closet, actually) and found not one but two VHS copies of the R.E.M. home video, R.E.M. Succumbs. As I have an extra copy, Chaka and I decided to have a contest.
Leave a comment telling us what your favorite (or least favorite) R.E.M. song is and why. Please elaborate. The best mini-essay on this topic will soon find a copy of R.E.M. Succumbs in his/her mailbox. The deadline for entries is Tuesday, July 4.
I know you came here for an mp3 or two; here ya go. “Sugar Cane” is one of the more obscure R.E.M. songs I have to offer. It is a very rough demo that contains the seeds of the band’s biggest hit, “Losing My Religion.”

Bonus song!
Bryan Singer’s Superman Returns hits theaters tomorrow. Appropriately, I present to you “Superman” by The Clique, released in 1969 and covered by R.E.M. on 1986’s Lifes Rich Pageant. A quick scan of Hype Machine and elbo.ws finds that no one is offering this, so enjoy this Timedoor exclusive!
