Song of the Day: "Six Months in a Leaky Boat" by Split Enz, or, Tonight: Tim Finn plays Turner Hall Ballroom in Milwaukee · Feb 6, 12:03 AM by Don
Tim Finn plays Milwaukee’s Turner Hall Ballroom tonight. I’m planning on going. We’ll see how this winter storm plays out. I saw Tim Finn play a solo set almost 19 (!) years ago opening up for 10,000 Maniacs at the Riverside Theater, also in here Milwaukee. I remember not knowing who the opening act would be and I was pleasantly surprised when I got to the venue and realized it was Tim Finn of Split Enz. His performance was earnest and charming. For anyone on the fence, he played the Split Enz favorite, “Six Months in a Leaky Boat” near the end of his set (or was that part of the encore?). I love it when the opener wins you over. The next day I bought his self-titled third album. I listened to that cassette (!) more that summer than I did Blind Man’s Zoo.
