Tonight: The Decemberists at the Orpheum Theatre in Madison · Apr 20, 03:26 PM by Don

I’ll be seeing the Decemberists for the second time this week tonight at the Orpheum in Madison. I’m excited to see them again, but I hope they change up the set list. The pic above is from the Pabst show four days ago. Between Milwaukee and Madison, the band played two nights at the Riviera in Chicago.
For a brief time, Petra Haden, formerly of the Rentals, was a member of the Decemberists, contributing violin and, as you’ll hear below, supple and powerful vocals. Alas, she is no longer playing with the band. But the band was able to snag John Moen, formerly of Stephen Malkmus’ Jicks, to play drums.

The band often plays covers, even though Monday’s show at the Pabst proves they do not need that crutch. Nonetheless, when they do play a cover, it is usually something surprising and fun. Again, I must wonder if tonight’s set list will be different from what I saw at the Pabst.
Timedoor Policy Memo: All songs posted by Enik during a given month will be purged during the first week of the third month. For example, all January songs will be taken down early in March, all February songs will be taken down early in April, and so on. Enjoy!
