Holy Chaka, so tender and mild · Dec 15, 06:47 AM by Chaka

When is Kiss going to record the holiday tune I wrote for them, “Let’s Put the X in Xmas”? Or its perhaps more appropriate alternate version, “Let’s Put the Uh! in Hanukkah”?
I tell you what, Barack Obama’s got a lot of ground to cover with me yet. But the establishment’s ‘Hussein’ smear of him is totally erasing doubts I have about him. Can you dig it?
Hey, people of 1970s Earth: how were you ever able to sit through the ‘Intro’ to Lou Reed’s Rock & Roll Animal to find out if the record was any good or not? I can’t last 30 seconds through that atrocity without turning it off. How in the sam hell did you do so when skipping ahead meant getting up, picking up the stylus, and putting it down again and again until you found where the lameness mercifully stopped?
Another similarity between the music of Jack White and Led Zeppelin: Jack’s sucky songs really, really suck.
Think about it – any day now, that son of a bitch Bush is going to have two fullblown civil wars on his hands. Not even the kind of civil wars that we sit back and cluck our tongues about – the kind of civil wars that we are completely powerless to do anything about. And really, if Bush had his way, there’d be at least one more civil war going on in the same part of the world.
Not to be a sore winner or anything, but is there any way the assignment of federal prisoners to federal prison facilities can be changed before Tom Delay gets convicted, so he can be assigned to the filthiest, soap-droppingest, Cool Hand Lukiest prison there is? I have a great screenplay idea to sell to the Passion of the Christ crowd – a Birdman of Alcatraz ripoff featuring Delay finding redemption in the joint while keeping the company of the cockroaches that infest his cell.
If I were to say the term Bill’s Bus to you, would you know what I was talking about?
I’ve laughed my share at erstwhile Lion QB Joey Heatherton in the past, but dig this – the Lions’ record in the Millen era in games not started by Heatherton is 5-33. As another famous Joey once said, whoa.
Millen goes so far past being a laughing stock that he actually has me sympathetic to Lions fans and hoping they’ll dump him and improve. He’s as much of a cartoonish failure at his job as George Bush is at his.
Laugh now, fuckface, Leila once said. The Pack have played 24 quarters of football at Lambeau this season. They failed to score a single point in 14 of them. That’s 58%, if you’re scoring at home. This picture’s going to be on the cover of every major newspaper in two weeks’ time.
Can we just go ahead and say Jeff Tedford guys do not good pros make? The Green Bay TV stations should replay this year’s Dolphins games so people can get a look into the green-and-gold crystal ball – Rodgers’ absolute best-case-scenario upside is starting to look like the 2006 year model Joey Harrington.
Divine ruins Christmas. Kind of a drag the bottom of the frame is cut out, obscuring her stomping on every single present under the tree, but you get the point – just get your loved ones what they asked for on their lists and there’ll be no trouble.

The Bard of Butcher Hollow lays down some ground rules. Wit of any kind will not be tolerated, and will be responded to with violence. Foreshadowing of the Bush Doctrine.
mp3: Loretta Lynn – Fist City
Those of you who have actually been bitten by a bugbear know what he’s talking about.
mp3: Malcolm Hospital – Lair of Destruction
What in the name of Syd Barrett ever happened to Cheri Knight? Both of her solo records were fantastic. Then she got picked up by Melvin Dummar and was never heard from again.

Wait, why don’t you own the Vaselines Sub Pop comp that came out back when Kobain was tossing his lightning bolts around? You know what, save it.
mp3: Vaselines – Dying For It
Pretty surprised more of the Velvets’ zillion dollar ‘Sceptre Sessions’ acetate hasn’t hit the Hype Machine. It’s out there – you know where. Here are two of the more interesting alternate takes; warning: these tracks sound like the 40 year old acetate they are. There, I just saved you a zillion dollars.

Backstage w/ Mr. John Murphy Chaka has become uncomfortably numb

With regard to Lou Reed – I’m assuming you mean the intro to “Sweet Jane”, yes? All I can say is that it made sense at the time. I still like it, myself, but that could be the nostalgia talking.
As for Cheri Knight, last I’d heard of her she’d hooked back up with the Blood Oranges, but that was a couple of years ago, I think.
At any rate, thanks for the tracks.

Too bad Rock ‘n’ Roll Animal did not have an extended drum solo to go with the rank guitar intro!
