Hats off to helmets! · Oct 19, 09:33 PM by Don

Safety rules

Though it is not a big part of this site, skateboarding is something Chaka and I grew up with and still do from time to time. Our technical consultant, Uncle Jack, also likes to skate. After testing out Cream City recently, he decided to fully commit to the sport by buying a helmet. He celebrated this rite of passage with the above photo.

Send us a photo of yer goofy mug capped with a helmet of some kind. Please send a jpeg no wider than 400 pixels and no bigger than 20 KB.

Please send photos to:

Below are Enik (with green box) and Uncle Jack’s buddy, Ess-Dog.

Thumbs up to safety

Safety is the awesomest

I’m pairing this group of photos with what has to be one of the worst cover versions of all time, Helmet’s metal-o-fied version of Bjork’s attack on whiny boyfriends everywhere, “Army of Me.” I’m a big Bjork fan and “Army of Me” is one of my favorites. What Helmet does to the song is so beyond wrong that I actually am laughing as I type this while forcing myself to listen to the song in its entirety for the first time. Oh yeah, I picked a Helmet song because this post is about helmets. Get it? You may now laugh witheringly in a gesture of pseudo-politeness.

  1. Does that nerd in the top picture have tags hanging from his helmet??

Why doesn’t he go watch Lost or something.
